I have photographed weddings and elopements all over Western Canada, Hawaii, Las Vegas, Mexico, Cuba, and the Dominican Republic, but these mountains I call home are one of my favorite places! You can't beat the majesty of the Canadian Rockies (psst, they are more rugged and awe-inspiring than the older Rockies of the US!) and I spent my childhood playing, camping, hiking, and horseback riding in them! ;)
~ The Canadian Rockies are a HUGE tourist attraction and can be absolutely NUTS, crawling with people on weekends. I highly recommend, to make your elopement day go smoothly with the utmost of privacy and easy access to spots, you choose a weekday. It’s also easier to find vendors and traffic traveling through the mountains will be less congested and stressful.
Whether you want the marriage license and to make it all official on your wedding day, or you just want to worry about the legal part later (or before) and spend the day focused on you two without anyone else is totally your choice. I am not here to tell you which is better because it's up to you what is important
There are officiants I can recommend and they will come along to legally marry you (so you will need a British Columbia Marriage License); we can find witnesses on the trail or in town to sign the marriage license for you.
Or you can even choose to get legally married in a simple ceremony in your home town or the town you stay in on a different day and we spend your elopement day focused just on you two and your love story! The choice is yours and I will help you with whatever you choose.
