It’s also a less busy time for vendors and locations, so you get the benefit of your choice in dates. Some venues and locations often offer off-season pricing too so that you may save money on that and SPLURGE on your dream photographer (me! *wink wink*).

Alberta is FULL of gorgeous spots, but you need to consider accessibility! Think about seasonal road and trail closures, and always have a backup plan! As an experienced Alberta elopement photographer, I’ll guide you through all those logistics to ensure your day is smooth and stress-free.
The Rockies are a gorgeous location option for your winter elopement! The snow adds an EXTRA layer of beauty to the already epic landscapes of peaks, valleys, and frozen alpine lakes! Even though the higher-elevation roads may be closed, the lower-elevation trails are open for snowshoeing adventures!
Dressing for a Winter Elopement
Dressing appropriately is CRUCIAL for a winter elopement! You want to stay as warm and dry as possible. So think LAYERS, thermal underwear, winter boots, and, of course, a BEAUTIFUL, warm wedding outfit! Look at warmer, heavier fabrics, like velvet, and bring a shawl, jacket, or a coat to stay toasty.
And don’t forget about the accessories! A cute beanie or a pair of hand warmers or mittens can be a fun and practical addition!
Staying Safe and Warm
Safety FIRST! Understand the weather conditions and ALWAYS be prepared for the cold! Having a backup location and even a backup date is ESSENTIAL in case of snowstorms or severe temperatures. And, of course, equip your vehicle with winter tires.

Stay Nourished and Hydrated! It’s easy to overlook, but staying well-fed and hydrated is crucial, especially in the cold. So pack some snacks and water!
